Models as ‘analytical similes’: on Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen's contribution to economic methodology

This paper investigates the methodology of Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen and his conception economic models as analytical similes. His approach has received little attention from mathematical economists methodologists. Thus, purpose this is to characterize perspective situate it in broader spectrum methodologies. It shows that criticized lack significance certain attempted give philosophical foundations criticism. He also provided a set methodological principles are illustrated by practice modeling. placed opposition axiomatic dominated postwar economics, line with such Marshall, Wicksell, Keynes, on limited subordinate role mathematics discipline.
